Casavant Opus 940, 941

The congregation, founded in 1879, purchased the organ from Casavant Frères, Limitée, Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, Canada in 1922 as their opus 940 and 941 (the latter number for the antiphonal divisions). A console by Austin Organs, Incorporated, replaced the original console. The organ has nine divisions (Great, Swell, Choir, Solo, Choir Echo, Solo Echo, Corridor Diapason, Pedal and Pedal Echo) and has some 77 ranks. In 2012 the Solo and Swell reservoirs were re-leathered. The Swell reservoir was on it original 90-year-old leather and inside the lid of it were over 300 bricks, placed there for weight and to give stability! The dimensions of the Swell reservoir is 10 feet by 5 feet! In 2013, the Choir Echo note pneumatics were re-leathered. The front Choir division was slated for the same work in 2014 as well as the re-leathering of the Choir reservoir, which was still on it’s 92-year-old leather! Restoration continued in 2019 with the releathering of the pouchboards of the Solo Echo and Echo Pedal division along with releathering the stoppers of the 16′ Echo Pedal Bourdon.
