St. Dominic’s Catholic Church

Washington, D.C.

Decoration of facade pipes is not commonly undertaken on pipe organs in this day and age. Our firm has undertaken some projects that have involved new designs and restoration of existing ones. In 2025, we have taken on a unique pipe decoration project.

The substantial facade pipes of the 1897 Roosevelt organ at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Washington, D.C. were taken down for decoration as a part of some larger re-decoration of the church. This project was a joint undertaking between St. Dominic’s priest Fr. George Schommer, and Marylou Davis, who is one of the foremost experts on pipe decoration.

Marylou Davis joined us at our works and provided significant guidance to members of our staff in painting the pipes. The result is a striking design that will have a significant presence in the space. These pipes will be returned and installed at St. Dominic’s in late October 2025.
